Abstract
The effects of hexachlorophene piperazine salt (HCPP) on the experimentally infected rabbits were classified in 2 groups, one being slightly and other severely infected. These effects were compared by means Of observing body weight change, number of servival fluke in gall duct and macroscopical changes of liver, gall bladder and duct with the groups which were administered chloroquine (CQ) and dithiazanine iodide (DI) after 3 months ,of oral drug administration.
The results were as follows ;
1. In severely infected group, medicated with HCPP 20§·£¯§¸ daily for 7 days, fibrotic change of liver was greatly diminished in macroscopical finding, and tere was not found the any surviving flukes in gall duct, and their body weights were increased, but no effects were found on Dl 30§·£¯§¸ and CQ 10§·£¯§¸ group.
2. On the group which was given HCPP 8§·£¯§¸ daily continuously for 18 days, and the other group which repeated three times the period of 7 day administration of the same dose with 5 day rest, fibrotic change in the liver and the number of surviving fluke in gall bladder and duct were small in gall bladder and duct.
Body weights were slightly increased, on HCPP 5§·£¯§¸ and when Dl 30§·£¯§¸ was amnidistered by the same method as above, fibrotic change of liver was reduced considerably, while the former was more effective than the later, but there was little effect on CQ 10§·£¯§¸ group.
3. On slightly infected groups, in which were noted no significant changes in the liver and body weight, and no flukes in the liver were found when 20§·£¯§¸ and 8§·£¯§¸ of HCPP was given whereas in CQ and DI group, no significant effects were found.
